Our BEST Expo Booth yet!

Every January the Outer Banks Wedding Association hosts it's annual Wedding Weekend and Expo event which is attended by over 1200 people! Over the years we've noticed that vendors are creating bigger and better booths and we were pretty much doing the same old thing - pictures, packets, books, giveaways. This year we decided to change the game and do something different - and much more eye-catching! We met with Renee Landry to get a design vision for our booth and she showed us these cool wood walls from Anthropolgie...we knew immediately that they were the attention-getter we were looking for! Lots and lots of late nights, pizzas, and glue-covered fingers later we had these 4 beautiful wall panels! In addition to the wood walls, we also used a navy blue sequin linen from La Tavola, put down a faux hardwood flooring for our booth area, borrowed some beautiful furniture pieces from Ambrose Furniture (the Burlap cubes & Printed arm chairs) and featured a white hydrangea arrangement in a rope vase from Renee Landry. We all LOVED the booth this year and hope you do too! Now what will we do for 2015 to top this?!

Outer Banks Wedding Association Wedding Weekend & Expo ~ January 18th and 19th, 2014

Another cool thing we did this year? We went green by putting our wedding info on USB Drives instead of printing 100s of paper copies! Each of our packets is 20+ pages so it adds up quickly! 

PS - We added an extra booth space on this year and created the "Man Cave" for the grooms and dads to hang out in! We offered a putting contest, golf giveaways, a comfy chair and even complimentary drinks!

2014 OBX Wedding Expo ~ Glamorous & Romantic

This year for the Outer Banks Wedding Weekend & Expo, we worked with the FABULOUS Renee Landry to design & decorate the veranda (as well as our booth - more to come on that in a later blog post!) We ended up changing our theme 3 different times before landing on this setup which was both romantic & glamorous, vintage & modern at the same time. It's definitely one of my favorite looks to date...perhaps that has something to do with the sequin linen in my favorite color navy blue or the chandelier hanging from the veranda ceiling? Or maybe the mercury glass, bistro lights or pretty pink roses? I guess I loved it all :) I hope we have a wedding recreate this perfect look again soon!

Love the sequin linen but worried about budget? Instead of doing all of your tables in sequin you could just do your sweetheart table or a few accent tables - both give the WOW factor that you want to achieve! For the Expo, we did every other table in sequins plus the sweetheart. The alternate tables had white linen with a navy blue & white pattern table runner - HUGE impact but 1/3 of the price :) Another table to invest in a special linen for? Your cake table!

Introducing....our 2014 Inclusive Package!

Many brides want to keep wedding planning simple and keep the decision-making as streamlined as possible so they can focus on the fun parts of the engagement and wedding weekend. We offered our first "inclusive package" in 2012 and due to popular demand, we've created a new one for the Spring & Summer of 2014 and we're excited to reveal it to you!

Here's why it's GREAT:

  • We took the guess work out of the budgeting process! The package we've created is $100 per person - food, beverage, venue, tax, gratuity - it's ALL included! So for 50 guests that's $5000, 66 guests would be $6600 - easy math :)
  • You don't need to stress about all the little details! We've put together all the main components for you and you're only required to make a few decisions - which food package, type of beer, what color table runners, etc. We're keeping it simple for you! This is especially valuable if you are planning this as a destination wedding!
  • It shortens the planning process! Do you want a summer wedding but think it's too late to get everything together in 6 months? With this package all of the planning is laid out and you can make all the decisions right away! This makes planning a destination wedding in as littles as 3 months a possibility. 
  • There's so much value! The package includes ceremony, reception, tables/chairs, dance floor, linen, table runners, beer, wine & a specialty liquor drink, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, and more! Everything you could want for your ceremony & reception is included and for those 5 items we can't provide (DJ/band, cake, photographer, officiant, florist) as always we're happy to get you in contact with some of the best local vendors!

The best planning resource -!

So you've decided you want an Outer Banks wedding - that's a no-brainer :) - but now what?

Planning a destination wedding 2+ hours from your home may seem daunting at first but thanks to the Outer Banks Wedding Association and all of the amazing vendors who make up the organization, it doesn't need to be scary at all!

The Outer Banks Wedding Association is compiled of almost 300 local wedding professionals from ceremony + reception venues (like The Currituck Club) to DJs, photographers, bakeries and so much more! The Outer Banks Wedding Association is meant to be a resource for brides - getting them in touch with the best, sharing real weddings and Pinterest boards for wedding inspiration and more!

This week the Wedding Association unveiled it's brand new website - which is much more interactive & easy to navigate than the old version. (Not to mention gorgeous!)

So whether you are in the beginning stages, almost done planning but still looking for one or two more vendors, or just engaged and not sure where you want to get married - go check out! It's sure to inspire you and make wedding planning a breeze!

Mid-Week Makes Sense!

In 2012 we started to see a trend of mid-week weddings.They continued to be popular throughout 2013 and don't seem to be slowing down for 2014 either! Having a mid-week wedding during the summer months just makes sense - most rental homes are Saturday - Saturday or Sunday - Sunday which makes having a weekend wedding pretty tough. There's also the weekend traffic to contend with. Choosing a date a few days into your vacation week gives everyone time to relax and get settled instead of rushing. Another perk to a mid-week wedding? Lower rates :) We offer $750 off our normal reception fee for weddings Sunday - Thursday and other vendors offer price breaks as well! Wedding Decor

Ah, the sigh of relief that we've made it through another season. This one has been increasingly busy because it is the first season where we've had three venues instead of just our one beloved Currituck Club. An end to the season means we can now do what we have been wanting to do for our brides for a long time now! We have officially started the wedding decor inventory page. An Intimate but Fun June Wedding

It's no secret that I have quite a few "favorite" weddings but this one truly is in the top 5! Although this was a much smaller group (less than 30), every guest was so much fun and it was such an honor to be able to be a part of this amazing bride & groom's day. The wedding party really made this wedding reception come to life - they played a game of flip cup to get the party started! And don't get me started on the gorgeous centerpieces and special touches - I could go on for hours!
