#TBT Bistro Lights Galore!

One of our obsessions at The Currituck Club is Bistro Lights - although normal during the day, they transform a space in the evening! If you want your wedding to feel romantic and like a true "destination wedding" take a look at what Bistro Lights can do! This #TBT September 14th, 2013 is one of our favorite examples! I may have gone a little overboard on the pictures with this one but it was tough to narrow it down to just 7 to share!

#TBT DIY Done Right

This #TBT wedding from September 8th, 2013 is a perfect example of how beautiful a DIY wedding can be! The bride did all of the decor, down to the smallest details and it really made the difference! We loved the look of the ceremony with the wine barrels at the front and the use of burlap chair ties on the back row of chairs, plus the burlap cake table display and the gorgeous wooden boxes built for the floral centerpieces. Our favorite thing though? The best candy bar display we've seen! The crates, doilies, burlap - it all went together so perfectly!

#TBT Wedding Throwback Thursday

Happy #TBT! I got derailed a bit from my weekly Thursday posts when our Fall weddings began but hopefully I'm back on track! This one is from September 7th, 2013, so only 7 weeks of 2013 weddings to share before I can start showing off our 2014 Beauties! We loved the use of apples in their decor - it was fresh, bright & fun! This wedding is also a great example of how you can use some of our in-house decor items (the white lanterns, burlap squares & table numbers are all ours!) and add in your own to create beautiful centerpieces.

What else do we do?

Please excuse the interruption in our #TBT series - I promise it will be back next week! This week though, I wanted to share another part of what we offer at The Currituck Club - our offsite catering services! We do quite a few each year of offsite caterings each year, often for rehearsal dinners, day-after brunches & even wedding receptions themselves! With alot of gorgeous rental homes in the area, we know some brides would prefer to have some or all of their wedding events at the vacation home so we offer catering to those who chose that over using our venue space! The wedding below opted to use our soundfront ceremony location and then we catered the dinner reception back at their rental home - another great way to use our services. #TBT Wedding Throwback Thursday

Happy #TBT! This week we're rolling through August with this beautiful bright wedding from August 11th, 2013. The decor was so fun - perfect for a summertime August wedding! This couple held their ceremony on the beach at The Hampton Inn Corolla and then joined us for dinner & dancing afterwards. Melissa & Danny were such a sweet couple and the most gracious hosts to their guests, stopping to talk to each and every person and make sure they were all having a great time! Happy first wedding anniversary (on Monday) and cheers to many many more anniversaries together!

#TBT Throwback Thursday Wedding

Happy #TBT - wedding style! This post were moving into August 2013 with Mandi & Jordan's wedding. I'm not going to sugar-coat it - the weather was HORRIBLE for their big day. We had rainstorms roll through starting just a few minutes before their ceremony was to begin so we went from Plan A (Soundfront Ceremony on #7) to Plan B (delay the ceremony a few minutes) to Plan C (setup the ceremony on the range out back of the Clubhouse and do the ceremony in a break between rain showers) to finally Plan D (ceremony in the foyer with the wedding party lining the staircase) when the rain just wouldn't let up! Even though the weather wasn't the best, the couple stayed in such high spirits and didn't let it dampen their day! Cheers to Mandi & Jordan - wishing you a sunny 1st anniversary this weekend!

#TBT Wedding Throwback Thursday

Happy #TBT and Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary to Erika & Pete - their wedding was a year ago yesterday so what a fitting throwback for today! #TBT Wedding Throwback

If you know me or follow the blog, you know I have an obsession with navy blue and navy & white stripes. Add to that gold details & gorgeous white hydrangeas and I was in heaven during Becky & Mike's wedding last June! Our BEST Expo Booth yet!

Every January the Outer Banks Wedding Association hosts it's annual Wedding Weekend and Expo event which is attended by over 1200 people! Over the years we've noticed that vendors are creating bigger and better booths and we were pretty much doing the same old thing - pictures, packets, books, giveaways. This year we decided to change the game and do something different - and much more eye-catching! We met with Renee Landry to get a design vision for our booth and she showed us these cool wood walls from Anthropolgie...we knew immediately that they were the attention-getter we were looking for! Lots and lots of late nights, pizzas, and glue-covered fingers later we had these 4 beautiful wall panels! In addition to the wood walls, we also used a navy blue sequin linen from La Tavola, put down a faux hardwood flooring for our booth area, borrowed some beautiful furniture pieces from Ambrose Furniture (the Burlap cubes & Printed arm chairs) and featured a white hydrangea arrangement in a rope vase from Renee Landry. We all LOVED the booth this year and hope you do too! Now what will we do for 2015 to top this?!

Outer Banks Wedding Association Wedding Weekend & Expo ~ January 18th and 19th, 2014

Another cool thing we did this year? We went green by putting our wedding info on USB Drives instead of printing 100s of paper copies! Each of our packets is 20+ pages so it adds up quickly! 

PS - We added an extra booth space on this year and created the "Man Cave" for the grooms and dads to hang out in! We offered a putting contest, golf giveaways, a comfy chair and even complimentary drinks!

2014 OBX Wedding Expo ~ Glamorous & Romantic

This year for the Outer Banks Wedding Weekend & Expo, we worked with the FABULOUS Renee Landry to design & decorate the veranda (as well as our booth - more to come on that in a later blog post!) We ended up changing our theme 3 different times before landing on this setup which was both romantic & glamorous, vintage & modern at the same time. It's definitely one of my favorite looks to date...perhaps that has something to do with the sequin linen in my favorite color navy blue or the chandelier hanging from the veranda ceiling? Or maybe the mercury glass, bistro lights or pretty pink roses? I guess I loved it all :) I hope we have a wedding recreate this perfect look again soon!

Love the sequin linen but worried about budget? Instead of doing all of your tables in sequin you could just do your sweetheart table or a few accent tables - both give the WOW factor that you want to achieve! For the Expo, we did every other table in sequins plus the sweetheart. The alternate tables had white linen with a navy blue & white pattern table runner - HUGE impact but 1/3 of the price :) Another table to invest in a special linen for? Your cake table!
