Field Trip to DC = BIG news for our Veranda!

Last week, I took a little road trip up to Washington DC to the W Hotel to check out their AMAZING rooftop bar. It's such a great little spot - it even overlooks the backyard of the White House! While I was dreaming of being there while it was nighttime and actually open, I remembered the reason I was there in the first place - to check out the clear sides they have around the perimeter. I'm sure you've seen in past pictures that our outdoor wedding veranda had these roll-up vinyl sides that honestly weren't so attractive. Those poor guys didn't hold up to the OBX weather very well, so we've been on a mission to find a replacement! We still wanted our veranda to be completely open-air if desired, but also enclosable for inclement weather and chilly nights. Most importantly though, they need to be able to survive more than two seasons in the salty winds! Well, we found a WINNER! Check out the pictures below to see what the "Ziptrak" system looks like at the W Hotel, and imagine how great it's going to look and work for us here! It will be installed before our 2012 wedding season kicks into gear :)

Stay tuned for additional updates about our venue coming soon, even more exciting than this one! (Teaser: new flooring? something outdoors?)

Happy Planning!
Ashley

PS
We're offering an all-inclusive wedding price for the first time - available only for select dates in 2012 - take a look at the package here and call me for available dates!! It's an amazing value!

How perfect is this for our veranda?!

Looks like wedding decor a la Renee Landry Style :)

2011 Weddings Slideshow!

Check out my first attempt at slideshow production - not the best but I'd say definitely not the worst! Some of the pictures might look familiar from previous blog posts, but many haven't been featured here yet. Isn't it great how our wedding space can be transformed? Each event has it's own unique style and personal touches added and uses our venue in such different ways! Hope you enjoy!

Formal, but Fun with lots of Personality!

Ashley and Grant got married on one of the hottest days of 2011, July 1st! Because of our location between both the Sound and the Ocean and on top of a little ridge, we get a great salty breeze that usually cools everything down around dinnertime. Grant and a few of his friends might beg to differ though...dressed in full Marine Dress Blues, I don't think the breeze helped them beat the heat at all! This Marine wedding was formal, fun, and full of love! Ashley and Grant also hosted a Wedding Brunch for their friends and family the morning after their wedding. This is such a great idea to get everyone together one last time before returning back home. Hosting a brunch the next morning is like one last "thank you" for coming to your destination wedding and allows everyone talk about all the amazing memories from the night before! The Currituck Club can accommodate a variety of these morning events, from continental breakfasts of bagels and pastries to gourmet breakfast bars with crepes, omelets, and the works! Contact me for details :)

Happy Planning!

Ashley & Grant - July 1st, 2011

Although most people choose to put their dining tables under our veranda, how you'd like everything set up is completely up to you! In this case, dining tables were outside in the open area next to the golf range. Check out the pictures below to see what the veranda looked like!

Instead of using our white chairs, the Bride opted for Black Chivari Chairs, rented through OAR Events.

Instead of tables under the veranda, they rented lounge seats and pillows!
Dance Floor Decal - such a personal touch!
Did you catch the 3 parasols with their new monogram? So cute :)

Laid-Back Guests, Dramatic Decor

Since I didn't start blogging until September, I missed posting about some of the best weddings of 2011 - the Spring and Summer ones! This one features Troy and Tanya and their laid back July 9th nuptials! Just because the people were laid back doesn't mean the decor was - Tanya selected the most stunning Black and Silver Damask table linens and added in rich blues and teals as accents! Once the sun went down, Ryan of Coastal Shots Photography was able to get some incredible shots of the veranda aglow with tea lights - so beautiful!

Tanya and Troy - July 9th, 2011

The Bride got ready in our Rees Jones Lounge, and snuck out on the balcony for a sneak peak of the Reception set-up! For 2012, we're adding an additional bridal suite with restroom, kitchenette, and plenty of room for hair and make-up to be done!

 Look at that table linen!

Another beautiful sunset :)

How amazing are these evening shots from Ryan?
