Modern Fall Reception

Although you don't have to be a golf club member to get married here at The Currituck Club, it's always fun when members do get married here. Instead of just seeing them a few times over the course of the planning year, we get to see them for years to come and watch as their families grow over time :) This October wedding is one of those member weddings, and we look forward to what the future has in store for them! This wedding was fun & upbeat, opting for mingling space, food stations, and a band to put a more modern twist on their reception. Check out the AMAZING veranda hanging decor by Renee Landry!

Celebration of Love, Family & Friends!

As if the days leading up to your wedding aren't emotional enough, this couple really pushed the envelope - they were moving to Australia the week after their wedding! That can't be good for one's blood pressure... Not only was this wedding a celebration of love, but a going-away party as well and the family and friends of this couple took full advantage of their time together. They were such a fun group of people and The Currituck Club was very fortunate to host their rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception! We'd also be happy to visit Jen & Brian in Australia :)

Cozy Fall Reception

Once again the weather did not cooperate with us! This wedding had decided on a Soundfront Ceremony, but Mother Nature had other plans...we moved the ceremony to the Veranda, the dinner to the Rees Jones Lounge, and brought the party back out to the Veranda for dancing and games. The weather didn't put a damper on this wedding, but it is always a good idea to have a backup plan for your Outer Banks wedding! This was such a relaxed afternoon wedding on Columbus Day - they brought all sorts of lawn games (including custom wedding corn hole boards!) to play while everyone enjoyed Original Sin Cider as the specialty drink of the evening! Perfect atmosphere for fall!

Low-Key Fun in September

Love the use of colored linens for this reception! This couple had their ceremony on the beach and then came back for their reception here at The Currituck Club. Such a fun, low-key event with great weather!

We Do Other Events TOO!

Although most of our events are weddings and rehearsal dinners, we do other events too, like anniversary parties, birthday parties, corporate events, vow renewals - you name it! We had the pleasure of hosting a Luau-themed dinner event for a national mortgage company in September. It was a nice change of pace and the flowers by Bells & Whistles were STUNNING! Although the weather wasn't exactly perfect for a luau, the vibrant flowers, festive food, and steel drum rhythms made for a fun party!

Excuse My Hiatus!

I cannot apologize enough for my extended lapse in blog posts! My excuse is acceptable I hope - October was a month full of non-stop weddings (and a Hurricane...)! I'm back in the blogging game though and am happy to present the Pitotti Wedding that I had everyone on pins & needles waiting to see! As I mentioned in the beginning of the month - I was obsessed with the DIY and classic touches of both the rehearsal dinner & wedding of this great couple! This wedding checked off many items on my favorites list: Navy Blue & Navy Stripes, Starfish, Italian Lights from Renee Landry, and lots of candles! Now I can't wait for the professional photos to come in so I can see the shots of their gorgeous Soundfront Ceremony at Sunset!

Rehearsal Dinners are Important Too!

This has got to be my favorite rehearsal dinner setup ever! I think everyone knows by now I love all things navy, striped, nautical, etc. and this brought all of those things together in one event! Check out the love knot napkin rings - OBSESSED! Honestly, the decor would be beautiful for a reception as well - it's so timeless! The moms of both the Bride and Groom are so crafty - they made the overlays, napkin rings, and much more! Just wait until you see the pictures from this couple's wedding the next day - PERFECT! The rehearsal dinner is often an overlooked aspect of wedding planning, but is such a fun night with close family and friends that is almost as special as the reception itself, so take time to enjoy it before the craziness of your wedding day!

Fall Weddings are Here!

I'm so excited to be able to post weekly wedding recaps again - and we've got so many weddings coming up in the next 6 weeks that I'll be able to post a new one each week well into 2013! On September 16th, we had the pleasure of celebrating with Matthew and Jessica. Despite being a little overcast for part of the day, the weather was perfect for their beachfront ceremony and veranda reception! All of the elements in this wedding were DIY - from the hanging lanterns and lights to the centerpieces. The best part was that Matthew and Jessica didn't have to lift a finger - they had an army of willing family members who took care of all the details so they could enjoy their time in Corolla!

Fall Specialty Cocktails

Fall is the BEST season for specialty cocktails - there are so many great ones to choose from! Here are a few of our favorites to give you inspiration for your fall signature drink!

Happy Planning!
Ashley

Pumpkin Pie Martini
This is our current favorite - popular for both weddings and in the restaurant! Want to try one for yourself? Come in to Bunker's Grille and we'll be happy to whip one up for you :)

Champagne Apple Punch
We're serving this at some of our weddings here in October and it's sure to be a hit!

Fall Sangria
A seasonal spin on the fruity summer favorite and perfect as a pre-portioned specialty cocktail option!

Caramel Appletini
Another great martini that we serve here in Bunker's Grille - it's like dessert in a glass!
Spiked Tea & John Dalys
So many great ways to do this one and honestly perfect anytime of year! Try Spiked Peach or Raspberry Tea, the Original John Daly, Firefly & Sweet Tea - the possibilities are endless! Don't forget to serve in Mason Jars :)

Apple Cider
Looking for something non-alcoholic for your guests? You can never go wrong with Apple Cider in the fall!

Come by anytime for a taste test of these delicious drinks :) We're also happy to try out any drinks that you can come up with!

Fall Colors ~ Rich, Rustic, or Classic!

Fall is the best season here on the Outer Banks! The weather is still nice (knock on wood!), the beaches are empty, the rates are lower, and the traffic is bearable again! The fall also lends itself to a variety of color schemes and reception decor. Check out some of our favorites below!

Happy Planning!
Ashley

For something truly fall, you could opt for a rich color scheme with browns, plums, oranges, greens, etc - Some of the pictures below are from weddings and events here last fall...our veranda looks great with any season's decor!

Teal and Brown

Rustic Chic with Burlap and Mason Jars - Great for any time of year but PERFECT for fall!

Navy - Beautiful in any season!

Also, Navy, Ivory, & Orange Shades, like this wedding at The Currituck Club last September!
